ABOUT – Rachel Monet
For as long as I can remember, I have been highly sensitive to energies around me. As a child, I was frequently visited by apparitions and sensed the spirits around me. I saw ghostly apparitions as they visited and moved about the room I was in. It was not by choice, nor did they frighten me. I accepted these experiences as they were but learned quickly to not discuss these things with anyone, especially those who were quick to condemn and judge harshly.
In my early twenties, I learned about ancient shamanic rituals, chakras, cleansing rituals and other healing modalities. I fine-tuned my massage techniques to help clear negative energy. It was through intense immersion into learning and training during those years that I learned how to further use my innate abilities to heal others through touch.
Along with being highly sensitive, I was also born with an artist’s spirit. Creative, playful, imaginative, independent, and rebellious – I walked my own path in spite of being bullied and ostracized throughout my school years. In hindsight, being able to follow my own path instead of conforming to fit in with the “popular” kids was a blessing in disguise for so many reasons.
Energy channeling is also what happens when I paint. I put on my music, choose my palette of colors, bond with the raw canvas by priming it and grounding it with the base color. Usually, it’s a raw or burnt umber color. When the base color dries, I come visit it and see it with fresh eyes. What lies in the shadows where the pigments overlap and appear darker? Are those eyes? Is that a mouth? Is that …? My imagination gets the best of me and I disappear into “The Zone.”
When in The Zone, nothing else matters but what my energy is focused on. When painting, the energy is a rapid cycle between what I envision and the colors my brushes reach for to bring that vision to life – one story at a time. The process is entirely intuitive where nothing else exists for me in that space and time except the neurons firing between what I “see” and the visions I bring to life through pigments and brush strokes.
Doing body and energy work is similar for me. It’s an intuitive, creative process whereby the energies flow and reveal to me what I need to know and where to apply my attention – whether it be the stroke of a paint brush or clearing away suffering caused by physical, emotional, or energetic blocks, the process is very similar for me.
