This is a colored pencil sketch I did years ago. I call it “Damsels De-Stressing”
What do damsel flies (aka: small dragonflies) know about stress???
Unlike us humans, I get the impression they and all other wild creatures mostly tend to their basic needs (Food and rest). Certainly, they are not emotionally affected by things beyond their control such as politics or pandemics as we are.
As we look out into nature, there is no stress response to anything besides fire, drought, and extreme weather conditions that deprive organisms of food and/or water. Plants, trees, and grasses grow. Bugs continue to do what bugs do. The three squirrels who hang around my deck still beg for the peanuts I hand-feed them. The Sun rises in the East and sets in the West.
